This course will help you understand the original setting and purpose of all 27 books of the New Testament and will then focus on some key texts and themes in the writings of Paul, John, Peter and the writer of Hebrews. The goal will be to show how the New Testament, despite its variety of authors, shows an impressive unity and provides a sure foundation on which we can build an ‘obedient faith’—believing in Jesus’ person and work and then putting into practice his will for our lives today.
Dr. Walker studied at Cambridge University, taught at the University of Oxford and at Trinity School for Ministry, authored 7 books and has found great enjoyment leading tours of the Holy Land for over 30 years.
The class meets at St. Andrew’s Church, Mt. Pleasant, in Sams Hall. The church is located at 440 Whilden Street and the entrance to Sams Hall is next door to the Historic Church.
